I have been teaching for more than 40 years. We should provide tools for our students to succeed, to reach their goals. All students should have the opportunity to study. If hard work is put into the effort, all of them could  reach what they want at graduation. In my classes I always check the background of the students and modify my lectures to cover material which they should have learnt in other classes and I still cover  what I am supposed to in this course.  In my courses, especially in garduate level courses, I change the material to reflect modern methods, techniques and theory. I enjoy working with students outside the class room, discussing material which was unusual for them and help with their research. I think that all students are capable to reach their potential with our help, and hard work.  It is important that we not only teach the basic material but to show how the material is used in real life and how it has been evolving. We need to teach our students to work on their own, to be capable to understand new material. The knowledge we provide should last a life time and stay relevant, on the other had it should be helpful to learn new ideas and methods.
