I was recruited, vetted by the FBI and ethics counsel, and hired by the Harris/Walz Presidential Transition Team. In provisional planning for a possible electoral college win I prepared to conduct policy reviews for the United States’ economic regulatory agencies including the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the SEC, the FTC, the CFTC, the FCC, the OCC, the FDIC, and the CFPB. This preparation involved reviewing the Biden administration’s ongoing major regulatory and enforcement initiatives for each agency and developing policy proposals. While the election led the country in a different direction, I engaged in extensive confidential pro bono public service on behalf of the country in the fall of 2024.

California's Assembly Bill 1366, signed into law by Governor Newsom, creates a new Victims of Consumer Fraud Restitution Fund in the state Treasury. This fund will be financed by money recovered from businesses that violate consumer protection laws and will be used to provide restitution to victims of consumer fraud lawsuits brought by the Attorney General. The bill is based in part on proposed legislation that was included within an appendix to one of my law review articles. In 2023 I appeared at a press conference with Robb Bonta, the California attorney general, to promote the bill and have consulted with California legislators as needed in promoting the legislation. The law went into effect earlier this year.
