BIO
I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned alongside my students, patients, and colleagues for the last 24 years in healthcare. My healthcare professional background spans multiple roles, including an Instructor at College of Nursing, Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Department/ICU/Flight Transport Nurse, and Emergency Department Emergency Medical Technician.
My current and prior teaching experience includes serving as a Simulation Educator at the College of Nursing; Emergency Department nursing educator; instructor for TNCC, ACLS, PALS, and BLS; emergency flight transport base educator for Classic Air Medical in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and as a preceptor for nurses, nursing students, and PA students.
I am particularly passionate about simulation-based education, as it provides a psychologically safe learning environment for knowledge sharing, skills development, and the identification of learning gaps. Simulation fosters confidence, resilience, and effective communication through deliberate practice and constructive feedback. It has been foundational to my own professional growth, supporting my transitions from EMT to nursing, from emergency nursing to ICU and flight nursing, and ultimately into my role as a Nurse Practitioner and Instructor.
I am also passionate about books, pottery, and exploring trails with my family, friends, and pups.
