RESEARCH INTERESTS
I study multiple facets of vertebrate evolution, focusing on metabolism. My research is at the interface of biology, physics, engineering, and paleontology. My team uses cutting edge medical technologies and a wide range of laboratory and field methodologies to address questions of major vertebrate transitions. Work from my lab is published in internationally respected, high-ranking journals, such as Nature (impact factor 38.6), Science (impact factor 31.2), Annual Review of Physiology (impact factor 18.5), Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (9.8), Current Biology (8.8), Journal of Experimental Biology (impact factor 6.6), and The American Naturalist (impact factor 4.7).
Key words: Evolutionary Biology, Metabolism, cardiopulmonary system
