RESEARCH INTERESTS
Firas Rassoul-Agha works on the interface of probability theory and statistical mechanics. He aims at understanding the evolution of systems with complex interactions, e.g. particles moving in disordered media, cars navigating through traffic, surfaces of growing crystals, boundaries of infected tissues, or propagating fire fronts. Complexity is captured by randomness, both in the environment with which particles interact or crystals grow, and in the interaction or growth process itself. Firas develops the mathematical laws governing such systems.
