RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research interests were inspired by the inherent resiliency of patients when they face a life changing injury or illness and the recognition that recovery is influenced by personal, interpersonal, as well as social-environmental factors. In particular, my research has involved neurorehabilitation patient-care partner dyads, and focuses on ways to support couples in adapting to the context of a new chronic, disabling condition.

Specific populations I am interested in: neurorehabilitation patients, inlcuding stroke and spinal cord injury; care partners or family caregivers

Outcomes I am interested in: quality of life, mental health, well-being

Research Methods I use: clinical trials, mixed methods, community-engaged approaches
