TEACHING INTERESTS
NUIP 6450: Molecular Prospectives of Nutritional Biochemistry
The ‘Molecular Perspectives on Nutritional Biochemistry’ course is designed to provide practical knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying nutrient metabolism and their influence on human health. Students will explore advanced topics such as signaling pathways, metabolic interrelationships, gut microbiome, the interplay between genetics and nutrition, precision nutrition, and AI in nutrition. Through in-depth analysis of cutting-edge research, students will understand how biochemistry shapes dietary recommendations and influences personalized nutrition approaches.
NUIP 6460: Micronutrient Metabolism
The ‘Micronutrient Metabolism’ course is designed to explore micronutrients in human metabolism, including biochemical and physiological roles of vitamins and minerals. Students will apply knowledge in clinical scenarios, focusing on the micronutrient needs of various populations. Students will also examine contemporary issues related to micronutrients and human health.
NUIP 6440: Macronutrient Metabolism (Team Taught)
The 'Macronutrient Metabolism' course is focused on the metabolism of dietary nutrients and the influence of gut microbes on energy metabolism. The instructors utilize the teaching approach of ‘synthesis and integration.’ Course content is directed towards recent advances in macronutrient metabolism in nutrition science, research tools for assessing energy metabolism, and current topics of clinical interest related to macronutrient metabolism.
