BIO

Christopher E. Miles is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Utah, working in mathematical and computational biology. His group combines mathematical modeling, biophysics, and machine learning to study how cells organize molecular activity in space and time. In close collaboration with experimental scientists, the group has recently worked on questions in gene regulation, intracellular transport, and the biophysics of cell division.

His research group is supported by the NSF and NIH/NIGMS, and he serves as an editor for PLOS Computational Biology and the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology.

Before returning to Utah, where he earned his PhD, he was an Assistant Professor at UC Irvine and a Morawetz Fellow at the Courant Institute at NYU.
