RESEARCH INTERESTS
The bulk of my research today examines how the unique ecological constraints of the Baja California peninsula have shaped human population dynamics and cultural change over time and space. I use a variety of approaches to examine these phenomena including ethnography (of traditional ranchers), historical demography (of the 18th and 19th centuries), and archaeology (peopling of the New World and post-contact Jesuit relations).
