RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research focuses on atmospheric surface-layer turbulence and its interaction with inertial particles, particularly precipitation. I study how turbulence and mean wind control the settling speed, orientation, and microphysical evolution of snow and rain, with direct implications for numerical weather prediction. I develop physics-based, high-precision instruments-including the patented Differential Emissivity Imaging Disdrometer (DEID),to improve precipitation measurement and resilience to extreme weather.
