We organized a Python programming summer camp for refugee youth in collaboration with the Utah Refugee Services Office. Held in June and July 2025, the camp consisted of four sessions designed to introduce Python programming to students aged 12–18. To meet the needs of this audience, we created new, project-based, and self-contained modules covering Turtle graphics, image processing, game development with Pygame, and AI-based object detection using OpenCV. We recruited four student instructors—three Ph.D. students and one undergraduate— who brought diverse academic backgrounds in human-centered computing, visualization, and robotics. The team included both male and female instructors from domestic and international backgrounds. The program enrolled 27 families, with nearly 90% of participating students experiencing Python programming for the first time.
