After receiving my undergraduate degree, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia and a high school biology teacher in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. Through those and other experiences in Latin America, I became deeply interested in culture, power, and human-modified landscapes. Geography provides an ideal set of tools and theories to explore those interrelationships.

Broadly, the goal of my research, teaching, and mentoring is to stimulate interest in and produce new knowledge about the interrelationships among politics, society, culture, and environmental change.

I work with a diverse group of undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students in different capacities, including research classes, assistantships, thesis advising, and co-authoring.
