Associate Professor (Clinical)
College of Nursing
BIO
Hello!
I go by Dr. S or Ally; my pronouns are she/her. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Growth Development and Nursing, a master’s in Nursing Education, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), all from the University of Utah. My passion lies in Mental Health Nursing—the intricate workings of the mind have always fascinated me! I firmly believe that every behavior has an underlying reason, and exploring those reasons is what drives my enthusiasm for this field. I also love being the Specialty Track Director of NEAP/UEXCEL and watching my students achieve their goals of becoming registered nurses from the University of Utah.
Originally from Wasilla, Alaska, I came to Utah to pursue a nursing education and have been here ever since. My professional background includes researching street drugs and working in forensic units, experiences that have enriched my perspective on nursing and mental health.
For the past 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching at the university level, and I truly love helping students navigate the challenges of the nursing program. My door (office #4655) is always open for you! Whether you need chocolate, lotion tissues for a good cry, a pillow to scream into, or just someone who will genuinely listen—I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Let’s make this journey an empowering and rewarding experience together!
