BIO
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health & Kinesiology at the University of Utah, where I focus on promoting academic excellence and a research-driven learning environment. I hold a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Health and Kinesiology from the University of Utah, and I am certified as an Exercise Physiologist (ACSM) and Nutrition Coach (Precision Nutrition), with additional certifications in health coaching (NBC-HWC) and strength and conditioning (NSCA-CSCS) in progress.
I have taught courses in Exercise Physiology, Epidemiology, Exercise Programming, and Fitness Instructor Training, integrating contemporary research to bridge the gap between theory and practice. As a Graduate Assistant and Research Assistant, I published research on physical activity and adolescent fitness. To stay connected to the field, I maintain a practice in personal training, group fitness, and health coaching.
My teaching philosophy centers on authenticity, curiosity, and empathy. I create inclusive spaces where students develop critical thinking and independent learning skills. I am passionate about integrating research with practice and fostering a deeper understanding of health and kinesiology concepts.
