BIO

Erin Tucker, DNP, NNP-BC is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing and a board-certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the University of Utah Hospital Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Her clinical practice has focused on the care of critically ill newborns, including extremely premature infants and those requiring complex medical and surgical management.

Dr. Tucker teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program, where she develops and teaches graduate courses in neonatal embryology and transition, advanced neonatal health assessment, pharmacology, and neonatal procedures and simulation. Her educational philosophy emphasizes deep understanding of neonatal physiology and pathophysiology, integration of embryology with clinical practice, evidence-based pharmacology, and the development of advanced clinical reasoning skills needed for neonatal nurse practitioner practice. She is particularly interested in simulation-based education and creating authentic learning experiences that prepare students for the complexities of neonatal intensive care.

Dr. Tucker earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Utah, where she was recognized as the Outstanding DNP Scholar. Her scholarly work has focused on improving evidence-based neonatal care, including the de-implementation of routine gastric residual volume measurement in the NICU. She remains committed to translating current evidence into both clinical practice and graduate nursing education.
