BIO
Heayoung Yoon is a leading expert in advanced fabrication and nanoscale characterization, with over 15 years of experience in optoelectronic materials and devices. Her current research focuses on engineering micro/nanostructures of semiconductor materials to enhance functionality and stability in optoelectronic devices, including translucent solar cells and radiation-hard systems. She has contributed to projects at Samsung, Penn State University, and NIST, where she studied molecular junction devices, pillar array solar cells, and near-field optoelectronic imaging techniques. Yoon’s efforts also include developing robust nano-characterization techniques and using lasers and electron beams to understand local carrier dynamics. She teaches undergraduate core and graduate-level courses integrating theory and hands-on learning in semiconductor materials and devices. Yoon’s group leverages cross-disciplinary collaborations to advance energy technologies, with a focus on creating exploratory optoelectronic systems that address emerging global challenges in sustainability and technology. Yoon aims to bridge the gap between fundamental research and real-world applications, leading to next-generation energy solutions.
