RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Badgett's research is focused on promoting sustainable implementation of applied behavior analysis. She works with direct and indirect consumers to explore barriers and facilitators to implementation using qualitative, mixed, and community engaged participatory research methods. She also works with community members (e.g., teachers, medical professionals) to identify barriers and facilitators in their settings related to working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. This work informs her research that is focused on modifying evidence-based behavior analytic strategies for implementation, improving social validity processes to address issues of social invalidity, and developing high quality and meaningful training experiences for practitioners, including behavior analysts.

Current Research Projects:

  • Exploring perspectives on, and experiences with, the implementation of applied behavior analysis among autistic adults, parents and caregivers of individuals with autism and complex support needs, and behavior analysts.
  • Identifying and addressing factors influencing access to medical care among individuals with autism (e.g., practitioner training and education, environmental modification, continuum of services)
  • Engaging with community-based consumers of applied behavior analysis graduate programs to enhance curriculum by aligning teaching and supervision with community needs and values.
