RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research lies at the intersection of linguistics, education, and philosophy in higher education, positioning community colleges as vital sites for access, equity, and adult learning. Grounded in qualitative and critical approaches, my work examines how institutions can more effectively support linguistically diverse and historically underrepresented learners while preparing equity-minded leaders for a rapidly evolving educational landscape. My dissertation, Translanguaging Pedagogy for Multilingual Students in Community Colleges (completed August 2025), draws on applied linguistics to explore, first, how language practices shape learning, identity, and equity, and second, how translanguaging pedagogies foster engagement and persistence. This research conceptualizes students and educators as co-teachers, co-learners, and producers of knowledge, reframing multilingualism as both an academic and cultural asset that transforms classroom dynamics and advances equity-driven educational practice.
