TEACHING INTERESTS
My teaching interests are grounded in applied linguistics, higher education leadership, and equity-centered pedagogy, with a focus on preparing students to navigate and transform diverse educational environments. I teach courses that bridge theory, research, and practice—such as language, culture, and power in education; and adult and community college learning. Drawing from applied linguistics, I integrate translanguaging pedagogies that validate multilingual students’ linguistic repertoires and promote inclusive participation. Across courses, I emphasize student-centered and participatory learning, encouraging reflective learning, critical dialogue, and community engagement. Ultimately, my goal is to help my students to connect theory with practice and to cultivate the knowledge, discernment, and empathy needed to advance equity and well-being in our society. I encourage students to become active learners, critical thinkers, and co-learners who see themselves as co-teachers and producers of knowledge.”
